To align with broader public sector directives which ensure taxpayer dollars are used prudently and responsibly, SickKids’ Catering Service Policy has been updated. It is now required that all catering to be paid from a patient care, Research Institute, SickKids International, or Commercial Services cost centre/account be ordered through SickKids’ internal Terrace Catering Services or SickKids’ onsite retail outlets.

SickKids will cover catering for a business meeting with internal staff when the meeting occurs over breakfast, lunch or dinner and the budget is available. The following maximums per person are allowed when placing catering orders for SickKids business:

Breakfast: $6.50
Lunch $13
Dinner $15

Any catering request outside of these established maximums must be approved in writing by the person to whom the requestor directly reports and a copy must be provided to Terrace Catering Services.

Terrace Catering Services offers an extensive menu and a wide range of services.

Terrace Catering Services will make every attempt to meet the needs of its clients. In the rare occurrence it cannot meet the needs of a client, Terrace Catering Services will assist with securing alternative arrangements./p>

Does this mean my favourite local restaurant can no longer cater my lunch meetings?

You must use SickKids’ Terrace Catering Services or SickKids’ onsite retail outlets to have your catering covered by SickKids. If your meeting is catered by an outside restaurant, SickKids will no longer pay/reimburse you for the catering. In the rare occurrence Terrace Catering Services cannot meet your needs, it will assist with securing alternative arrangements.

I’m hosting a meeting at 180 Dundas. Does this policy apply to off-site meetings?

Terrace Catering Services provides catering to SickKids meetings taking place at or near the main hospital campus, including meetings at MaRs, McMaster Building, 180 Dundas, 123 Edward and 525 University. You must use Terrace Catering Services or SickKids’ onsite retail outlets to have your catering covered by SickKids.
